Andrew Kavanagh

CEO / Founder

Andrew began making films under the Kavaleer umbrella in 1998 and incorporated the company in 2001. His background spans fifteen years working at every level within the Irish animation sector, most recently Andrew’s credits include writing, producing and directing several of Kavaleer’s key slate projects. In addition to his creative and development roles, he also co-manages the corporate structure and direction of the company with partner Gary Timpson. In September 2010 The Sunday Business Post in their annual ‘Forty under 40’ feature named Kavaleer CEO Andrew Kavanagh one of 40 young entrepreneurs among ‘the keenest minds and shrewdest entrepreneurs on the block…the potential game-changers of the next decade.’ Andrew is currently developing Kavaleer’s new preschool series ‘Bedheads’.

Gary Timpson

Managing Director

Gary’s experience in Animation spans fifteen years and two continents. Starting out in Dublin’s Sheperd and Terraglyph Studios, Gary’s career then brought him through a number of roles in the commercial studios of London and as far afield as Sydney and Brisbane Australia, working for such household names as Warner Brothers, Disney to name but a few. Since joining Kavaleer in 2003, Gary has produced, directed and co-developed a number of in-house slate projects as well as overseeing  the day to day client work. Perhaps best known as the face of Kavaleer on the International TV Market circuit. Over the last few years Gary has  Coproduced ‘Lifeboat Luke’ for RTE and the very sucessful series ‘Garth & Bev’ for RTE, CBeebies and BBC WW.

Graham Corcoran

Art Director

From 1998 – 2001 Graham studied Animation and 3D Animation at Ballyfermot College, after graduation he moved into the area of Illustration, developing his own unique style. He has worked in almost all areas of concept design and illustration, including children’s books, animation, video games, graphic novels, and magazines, advertising and editorial. Graham has worked for clients from all over the world including China, Germany, USA, Serbia, Estonia, UK and Spain. Some of his past clients have included American Greetings, Harcourt Brace Publishing, Enlight Software, Smithwicks and Image Comics. He has worked with Kavaleer developing designs for Garth & Bev since 2006, and became Art Director at Kavaleer in January 2008. Graham is currently art directing iPhone games and working on the graphic development of our new show ‘Bedheads’.

John McAleer

Production Manager

After graduating from Athlone Institute of Technology with a National Diploma in Design Communication and a Bachelor Degree in Multimedia Design, John worked in MikMap publishing, Snap Printing, Kell Marketing Design and Kavaleer Productions where he brings his design and marketing skills to the e-learning department of Kavaleer. During his time with Kavaleer John has overseen the production of a variety of e-learning platforms used in both Ireland and the United States.

Jackie Leonard

Producer

Jackie Leonard is a producer with Kavaleer. After graduating with a degree in Arts and a Post Grad in Arts Administration Jackie began working in the film and animation industry. Starting off her career in the Galway Film Fleadh she then moved into the animation industry and has moved up to her current position as Producer over the last 14 years.

She was a Commercials Producer for Brown Bag Films for over 8 years and has produced many TV commercials, music videos and animated TV series. Some of her credits as Producer/ Production Manager to date include Olivia 28 x 11min TV series for Chorion US, The Academy Award® Nominated short film Granny O’Grimm 1 x 5min, Give Up Yer Aul Sins TV Series & Documentary 7 x 5 min & 30min Doc, The Boy Who Had No Story 11min Frameworks Short Film (2 x IFTA Awards 2005), The Masterplan Video for Oasis for Partizan UK, Before Sunrise 5 min Frameworks Short Film, Why Series II 28 x 5min eps, Lil Europeans 26 x 1min eps. She has also produced multiple TV commercials for National and International clients including “The Lotto”, Vodafone, and Post Bank commercials for DDFH&B, ‘Fig Rolls’, (2 x Shark Awards Irl), 3Mobile, Irish Examiner & 11850 Conduit, (Irl/UK/Austria/Spain), for Young Euro RSCG, Guinness Ad for IIDDBO, Berocca Ad for Y&R, Pampa Juice Ads for Grey Beirut (Lebanon), UTV/ Progressive Stings for Navigator Blue (Belfast), IFB Identity Re-Brand, Coca-Cola Ad for Rothco and a lot more!

As a production coordinator in Magma she worked on the following TV series: Norman Normal Series I & II 26 x 26 min, Nick and Perry 52 x 11 min, Tosh 26 x 13 min.

Joanne Byrne

Production Manager

Before Joanne began working in Kavaleer, she worked as Production Coordinator in Brown Bag Films. She has worked on Olivia I and II (78 x 11 mins), Noddy in Toyland (52 x 11 mins) and most recently IFTA nominated The Octonauts (52 x 11min) series for CBeebies. Joanne has just joined Kavaleer and will mainly be focusing on managing new co produced TV series Abadas, but will also be applying her skills to Kavaleer’s other projects in development.

Sarah Lonsdale

Production Coordinator

A graduate of I.T.T. Dublin, Sarah holds a First Class Honours Degree in Creative Digital Media. From this background Sarah certainly brings a mixed bag of creative, technical, communication and organisational skills to the Kavaleer team. Sarah joined the company in 2009 and since then has become an integral part of the core team. Sarah’s first cut her teeth on a project called “Jobot’s Access All Areas” a flash game made for South Dublin County Council which was subsequently shortlisted for a Chambers Ireland Excellence in Local Government Award 2010 in the Outstanding Customer Service category. Sarah’s attention to detail and can do attitude is evident in the day to day workings of the studio, be it short form commercial work or larger productions. In 2010, Sarah worked on Series II of Kavaleer’s flagship series, ‘Garth & Bev, airing to great applause on RTE, CBeebies and BBC WW. Sarah is currently coordinating on a service project entitled ‘Mad Cows’ 15 x 11 minutes.
