Deadly tells the story of Boney, a working stiff in a dead-end job. That is until he has a run-in with a spirited old lady named Bridie…

Written and directed by Aidan McAteer (Wildernuts, Abadas, Peppa      Pig) and produced by Shannon George (Wildernuts, Boj, Blue’s Clues) for Kavaleer, this charming tale of a grim reaper who works for the council was made under the IFB’s Frameworks Scheme funded by the the Irish Film Board, RTE and the Arts Council.

Academy-award winning actress Brenda Fricker and Love/Hate star Peter Coonan lend their voices to Bridie and Boney respectively, to bring these wonderful 2D animated characters to life. The film’s beautiful score was composed and performed by Celtic Thunder members Neil Byrne and David Monro.

“Narratively and visually, Deadly weaves together two strands – tragedy and comedy. We begin with lonliness, isolation and confrontation, but as the relationship between the characters develops, there are moments of warm humour and heartfelt emotion. This film is about death and this film is about life, but it is also a film about friendship.”
